About MetLib

The Metropolitan Libraries Section, formerly the Round Table of the International Association of Metropolitan Libraries (INTAMEL) dates its origins to 1966, the year Prague City Library organised an international conference to celebrate
its seventh anniversary and invited city libraries from other countries to attend. The meeting proved to be a beneficial
networking opportunity to share information and to promote the development and advancement of libraries. Thus in 1968, INTAMEL was founded as Round Table belonging to the Public Libraries Section of the International Federation of Library
Associations and Institutions (IFLA). Since 1968 INTAMEL has held an annual Conference hosted by a different library
system from around the world. Section since January 2004.
